rare breeds 

We choose to grow Large Black, Tamworth, Wessex Saddleback and Berkshire breeds of pigs because we think they exhibit a wonderful old fashioned flavour and are recognised rare breeds.

The term ‘rare breed’ refers to heritage farm animals that are no longer grown commercially and in danger of becoming extinct.

Whilst it may seem hypocritical to eat endangered animals, by purchasing rare breed meat you are creating a demand and insuring the breed’s survival.
